Arya Ilena and Amiya Esha

Many of you have been asking the meaning of our daughter’s names. Akhil is actually more into the Hindi meaning than I am. It was important to him that we choose a name with something meaningful to us. I just wanted a name that I liked!

The Meanings

Arya Ilena
Arya (AH-ree-yah) means noble, great, and truthful. I really liked this name when I came across it and it was my first choice on my list of favorite names. So when we found out we were having a girl, the same day we decided Arya would be one of our daughter’s names.

Ilena (Il-lee-na) means woman of high intelligence.

Arya was Baby A

Amiya Esha
Amiya (Ah-MEE-ah) means full of tenderness and friendly. So Akhil came across this name and we instantly loved it and so this was the second name that was chosen for our daughter.

Esha (Ee-sha) means pleasure

Amiya was Baby B

We didn’t intend on both our girls having their names beginning with an A. It just happened that the names we really loved began with the same letter! We looked and looked for other names beginning with different letters but we just kept coming back to the Arya and Amiya. So then their names were decided and we ended our long discussion of names!
